The short version. We collect the contact and business details you give us so we can run your free audit and follow up about it. We don't sell your data, we don't rent it, and we don't share your phone number or your consent to be texted with anyone for their own marketing.
1. Who we are
The Second Ring LLC ("Second Ring", "we", "us") is a California limited liability company. We install and operate automated customer-communication systems for local service businesses. This policy explains what we do with personal information collected through thesecondring.com and in the course of providing our services.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
When you request a free leak audit or contact us, we collect:
- Your name
- Your company name
- Your email address
- Your business phone number
- Your website address (optional)
- The approximate size of your operation
- Whether you consented to receive text messages
Information we gather when we audit you
Our free leak audit involves testing the public-facing responsiveness of your business — for example, placing a call to your published business number, submitting your public contact form, or reviewing your public online listings and reviews. This produces records such as call timestamps, whether a call was answered, response times, and notes on what happened. This is business information about a business, gathered from publicly available channels.
Information collected automatically
Our website is a static page. Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested may be logged by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes.
3. Why we collect it
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Name, company, email, phone | To run your audit, send you the results, and follow up about it |
| Website, operation size | To make the audit relevant and the numbers accurate |
| SMS consent record | To prove we had permission before texting you, as the law requires |
| Audit results | To produce your report and, if you become a client, to measure improvement |
| Server logs | Security, abuse prevention, and keeping the site online |
If you become a client, we also use your information to deliver, support, and report on the service you are paying for.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to operate our business, and only so they can perform work for us. These include:
- Our customer-communication platform, which stores contact records and sends messages on our behalf
- Telecom carriers and messaging providers, to deliver calls and texts
- Email and productivity providers
- Our website host
- Payment processors, if you become a paying client
- Professional advisors such as our accountant or attorney, where needed
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
5. We don't sell your data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not trade it. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
Mobile information and text messaging consent
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
6. Text messaging
We text you only if you gave us express written permission. You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP or by telling us in any other reasonable way. Full detail is in our SMS & Messaging Policy.
7. Cookies and analytics
This website does not set advertising cookies and does not run third-party advertising trackers.
The site loads a web font from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when the page loads. We do not control what Google logs in that request. Everything else on the page is served from our own domain.
8. How long we keep it
We keep audit and prospect information for as long as needed to follow up, and generally no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client.
For clients, we keep records for the life of the engagement plus the period our accountant and the applicable tax and business-records rules require.
Records of SMS consent and opt-out are kept for at least as long as the law requires us to be able to demonstrate them, even after you opt out — keeping your opt-out on file is how we make sure we don't text you again.
9. How we protect it
We use reputable service providers, keep accounts behind strong unique passwords and multi-factor authentication where available, and limit access to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Access a copy of it
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete it, subject to records we are required to keep
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended. Because we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" process to run — there is nothing to opt out of.
To exercise any right, email hello@thesecondring.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe the law requires. You may use an authorized agent.
11. Client customer data
When a business hires us, we process contact records belonging to their customers in order to run the systems we built for them. In that situation:
- The client is the owner of that data. We are a service provider acting on their instructions.
- We use it only to deliver the service they hired us for. We never use it for our own marketing and we never merge it into any other list.
- The client is responsible for having the legally required consent from the people on their list.
- We return or delete the data on request when the engagement ends.
If you are a customer of one of our clients and want your information removed, the fastest route is to reply STOP to their message or contact that business directly. You may also contact us and we will pass the request on.
12. Children
Our services are sold to businesses. The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated directly to active clients.
